  • Bed Bugs usually hide in small cracks and corners of beds, furniture and clothing.
  • Bed bug feeds human blood only but can live without food even for months.
  • A single bed bug can breed up to 300 eggs to produce new bugs within a week and survive in warm climate.
  • Bed bugs can travel with your clothes, bags, suitcase for longer time and distance etc. that’s the reason why these tiny insects found mostly in hotels, motels, trains etc and travel to your home also.

  • Bed bugs cannot survive in heat and temperature above 50 degree Celsius for 30 seconds is enough to kill them.
  • There bug are very sensitive to aerosol. Kerosene and diesel can kill a bed bug in just a second.
  • You can find bed bugs in furniture and clothing but main place to hide and breed is your bed and bedding, it make it easy to find and kill them.


Home Remedies to get rid of bed bugs yourself

The best way to kill bed bugs is in sunlight If it‘s not possible to get items out of house, you can perform operation indoor also but it need long preparation.
  • Make sure that all lights are on and there is enough light in the room.
  • Keep some kerosene or bug killing agent in a small bucket with hand gloves, wiper or cloth with you.
  • Pack all washable items like bed sheets, pillow cover, curtains, furniture covers, clothes, bags etc in a polythene sheet for washing later.
  • Keep the area clear of unwanted items around your bed and furniture to prevent bedbugs to hide again.
  • Now you are prepared and it’s time to start killing bed bugs


Killing Bed Bugs in Bed

  • First remove your mattress and pillow from bed and keep way in clear area. Don’t worry, bug will not come out in light and will remain hidden inside.
  • Inspect all cracks, joints and corners of your bed. Pour some kerosene or killing spray in every crack and joint. Don’t worry, little kerosene will not harm your bed but kill bugs in no time but temporary smell will be there that can be eliminated easily.
  • Most of the bugs will be killed and remaining will come out and fall on ground, Kill then by wiping them with kerosene soaked wiper or cloth.
  • Clean all cracks and joints if possible with hard brush or any sharp tool for eggs and finally seal all cracks and joint with wax, varnish or paint. Your bed is clear of bed bugs now.


Now kill bed bugs on bedding

  • Keep kerosene soaked cloth or cotton ready and search for bed bugs in corners and knitted places. You will not find any bug at open face but will find them hidden at corners and also see black waxed spot where bugs usually breed and hide in group.
  • Wipe every place with little kerosene where you find bugs and black waxed spot, if you find bugs on floor wipe it also.
  • Clean black waxed spots and eggs with hard brush and rub detergent soaked cotton wherever you wiped with kerosene followed by rubbing with fresh water soaked cotton to remove kerosene smell. Your bedding is also clear of bugs.


Killing Bed Bugs in Furniture

  • You will hardly find some bed bugs in furniture as it is not there permanent home. Treat all wooden furniture same as you treated your bed but sofas and clothed furniture can be treated separately.
  • Use hair dryer at corners and knits of sofas or clothed furniture to get bed bugs out of it.
  • Heat from the dryer will kill most of bugs and remain will come out. You can remove them with hard brush and kill them by wiping with kerosene.


Killing remaining Bed Bugs in House

  • Wash all washable items you packed in polythene bag with detergent and let them dry completely in dryer or in sun.
  • Wipe out whole flour with kerosene or killing agent and close the room for couple of hours, close all ventilation.
  • Kerosene will kill all bed bugs left on floor and also create fumes which further kill remaining bug in the room. 


Sunlight is Best Treatment to get rid of Bed Bugs

If it is possible take all you bed, bedding and furniture out of house and expose all to sunlight. Bed bugs cannot survive in heat of sun. Some bugs will be killed by heat of sun and remain will take shelter in dark place usually under bedding where you can find them easily and kill with aerosol or other bed bug Killing agent. Kerosene is very fast and effective.
